What to Wear???
It’s a top question, respectfully so, that I get after a family books their session. My response is always: NEUTRAL COLORS are ahhmazing!! (Think: tan, khaki, cream, ivory, white, mixed with some blues or dark earthy greens, or browns….) Pinterest has amazing boards with outfit ideas, and I’m more than happy to send you over some color pallets as well.
That being said, we all want to be celebrated as individuals. Therefore, sometimes being BOLD is GOOD! If you look exceptional in bright yellow, ROCK IT! If you love purple, do it! It also depends on where we are doing our session, so feel free to ask me what colors I think could compliment the location. Also, consider the time of year. Around Christmas time, red and green look awesome in those lovely tree farm photos, that will end up on Christmas cards. If you have an all gray wall in your living room and want to hang a big canvas of your family on there, a pop of a bright blue, or pink, or a beach vibe even, could go really well! In the fall, maroons and marigold yellows are amazing, as well as oranges, browns, greens, and golds. I advise everyone to think about where you want to hang your new photos, and what colors will look well in your home.
For my son’s room, it’s grays, browns, and blues. I have some red incorporated in his newborn photos, which stands out well in his room. In my daughters pink and tan room, we have primarily pink, gray, tan, and white colors in the photos we’ve put on her walls. In my gray bedroom, we went with black and white photos, which are timeless and can match any decor! My living room is a horrendous olive green (don’t ask why I decided that was a good color to paint. It’s staying on for a few more years. sigh) and I have gold frames, with burgundy, dark green, and gold outfits that we wore. It doesn’t look too shabby against my ugly green walls. 😂
So just think about those main things: complimenting colors, colors that won’t wash you out, colors that won’t clash, colors that go with the season and place, colors that will match your decor and overall home vibe, and colors that are timeless. 💗💗💗
